Ivan Stanković was born in 24/1/1955. He finished the Faculty of Economy in Belgrade 1978; he is on the postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Drama in 2006, and is currently preparing the Ph.D. on the topic of Serbian advertising market in the period between 1996 and 2006.
He has been in advertising business since 1979, and his rapid rise begins in 1990, the year when he and Dragan Sakan established together Saatchi & Saatchi, an agency that has become a generic name for advertising and has educated most of the professionals in this line of work in former Yugoslavia. With imposition of sanctions, the Agency commenced its expansion across the region, and its branches were opened in Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Albania. It is considered the initiator of the new approach in the work with multinational clients in all of these countries, as well as the modern approach and introduction of world know-how in the sphere of planning and using the media. As such he was a lecturer on numerous conferences in the world, and an especially significant detail is that he was lecturing for 5 years at the Global School for Top Managers in Advertising Agencies (AMP).
Six years ago, in 2002 he terminated previous arrangement with his former partner and started his own communications group that consists of a production (Yellow Production), media (Media S) and advertising agency (Communis). In the past period he managed to establish his agency as a local leader, recognizable for its numerous commercials, that, besides their strategic part include a specific creativity―“Zepter Osiguranje”, “Aqua Viva”, “Aroma”, “Loto”, “Heineken”... Agency won several prizes, and he was proclaimed the Marketing Manager of 2006.
Apart form his primary work, he teaches at the Faculty of Drama and the Faculty of Media and Communications in Belgrade.
He has a wife, Maja, and four children: Selena (26 years of age, living and working in Los Angeles), Lea (22 years, just started working in Moscow), Lena (2½ years―no academic accomplishments yet), and Marijana (7 months, no job whatsoever).
