Scientific Journal for Theory of Media, Communications and Culture CODE of the Faculty of Media and Communications of the Singidunum University in Belgrade
Scientific journal CODE presents to the expert public results of scientific researches undertaken in the framework of activity of the scientific-research unit of the Faculty of Media and Communications. It follows current theoretical investigations in the field of media theory, communications and culture and presents basic accomplishments in this field that―in spite of the fact that we are already for a long time living in a media society―so far in our country have been denied access to a proper expert and scientific publication. That is the reason why the redaction, composed of renowned experts, supports the idea of presenting the works from the fields of the theory of media, communications and culture, that have been foreseen by the Programme of the Scientific-Research Activity for period between 2008 and 2013 in the framework of scientific-research unit of the Faculty of Media and Communications, and these are:
- Studies of Media and Culture (the media and societies in transition: European experiences and Serbia);
- Critical Studies of Media; Studies of New Media; Media and Popular Culture;
- Communicology (Semiology of Communications: from (Post)Structuralism to Bio-engineering;
- Cultural Identities and Globalization; Culture of Communications and New Technologies;
- experimental artistic practices as alternative or subversive practices of communications and Management in Culture (contemporary tendencies in the Management in Culture and Culture of Management in Serbia;
- Human Resources Administration and Centers for Career-Development in Serbia; creative industries and management in culture).
In the framework of the magazine there is a space dedicated to students’ papers, a rubric for reviews of foreign books from the field of theory of media, communications and culture, as well as a rubric for chosen expert translation wherein the texts relevant for this field that until now haven’t been translated in our language are to be published. In the framework of the magazine special attention is paid to research in the field of the studies of new media and development of new practices of communications, including artistic practices that arise from use of new technologies. Such approach opens the possibilities of publishing new papers elaborated in projects wherein through interdisciplinary approach a connection is made between, on one hand, natural and humanistic sciences and, on the other, innovative artistic practices. Also, the magazine insists on an international scientific cooperation, a connection of theoretical and practical discourses of knowledge, as well as on fomenting and affirming new methodological and theoretical approaches in research of media, communications and culture in today’s society.
