The “Communication” degree program within the Faculty of Media and Communications brings into practice scientific, professional and pedagogical standards of the highest possible measure in Europe and the world.

The goal of the program is to prepare students for jobs in administration of communications and relations with the public, demanding knowledge and skills such as:

  • writing communication plans;
  • verbal and nonverbal communication and negotiation;
  • creative expression;

The program offers deeper synthetic insights into processes of development of global society and evolution of knowledge and skills in the domain of communications and media and in creating the new European social space. Students are:

  • acquainting themselves with general assumptions of the theory of communications and media (Introduction to the Theory of Communications, Introduction to the Theory of Media);
  • to consider the dominant media constructs of history (Historical Narratives);
  • acquainting themselves with the dominant politico-ideological narratives (Contemporary Political Theories), importance of interpersonal communication (Basic Elements of Interpersonal Communication);
  • mastering the rhetorical skills and understanding of the basic speech genres (Rhetoric and Stylistics);
  • instructed to interpret media texts on their own (Mass Media and Society);
  • critically reading theoretical texts of contemporary poststructuralist orientation (Postmodernism and Poststructuralism), in order to approach and solve the problems of intercultural communication (Production of Cultural Stereotypes);
  • acquainting themselves with the phenomenon of popular culture as an indicator of cultural values (Popular Culture and Media) etc.

The Faculty of Media and Communications has established collaboration with professors and administrations of institutions, faculties and universities from abroad, which offers students the opportunity to exchange ideas and to accustom themselves to an international alternative educational milieu: Université Paris 8, FR; Istituto Europeo di Design, IT; SIT Study Abroad; Institute for Comparative Conflict Studies; University of Vienna.

Having completed their studies students critically and self-critically reflect on and master theoretical conceptions, and apply knowledge in areas related to media, journalism, research on public opinion, new informational technologies, different forms of public communication such as corporate relations, public relations services, marketing, public and political activity.
