The Journalism degree program enables students to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of journalism according to world standards and present European currents.
Journalism at the Faculty of Media and Communications is divided into three major fields of development which:
- prepare students for reporting, writing and editing different types of media;
- is emphasize the importance of understanding the institutional and social context wherein journalism supposed to operate, and;
- acquainting student with the corpus of current knowledge.
Goals:
- students should obtain knowledge about today’s theoretical, cultural and practical political conceptions which give them insights in theoretical, political, economic, social-cultural discourse;
- students should make a contribution to the fostering and strengthening of democratic ideas and procedures on all levels of society;
- students should use acquired knowledge to uphold personal and institutional accountability;
- students should help strengthen the credibility and professional attitude of the media in Serbia, and;
- students should develop a research culture in the domain of media and communications.

- Rhetoric and Stylistics;
- Digital Media Culture, and;
- Ethics of Journalism.
The Faculty offers a wide span of professional subjects including courses in specialized forms of journalism (Radio, TV, Online), media management, project administration, as well as an understanding of specific characteristics of media technology.
Each educational program involves, among other things, professional practice in local media, with whom the Faculty has established direct collaboration. Apart from mentoring work, students of the Faculty of Media and Communications have initiated and developed portals for online radio and a webzine.
During their studies students obtain a complementary certificate in the course of Rhetoric and a license to practice Investigative Journalism. Upon completing their studies students are qualified for a critical and self-critical reflection and approach to theory and practice, implementation of knowledge in activities related to media, journalism, public opinion research, new information technologies, different forms of public communication such as corporate relations, public relation services, marketing, public and political activity.
Upon completion of studies students are prepared for work and operating in a professional media organization or as independent journalists.
